Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2025

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

CentralEvidence is designed with privacy as a core principle. We built this platform to protect the identity of people who document enforcement actions. Your safety is our priority.

Information We Collect

When you upload a video, we collect:

  • The video file itself
  • Location information you manually enter (not GPS from your device)
  • Date and time you specify for the incident
  • A cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of your video for verification

Information We DO NOT Collect

We actively protect your privacy by NOT collecting:

  • Your name, email, or any identifying information
  • Your IP address (we do not log it)
  • GPS coordinates from your device or video metadata
  • Device information or browser fingerprints
  • Cookies for tracking purposes

Metadata Stripping

Metadata is stripped automatically on our secure servers immediately upon receipt and before long-term storage. This includes GPS coordinates, device information, timestamps, and other identifying data embedded in the file.

Time-Delayed Release

Videos are held securely for a minimum of 24 hours, with release scheduled for midnight Central Time (America/Chicago) following the hold period. This delay protects uploaders by breaking the real-time connection between recording and publication. Access is logged, audited, and restricted to essential security and maintenance functions.

Data Storage & Security

Videos are stored with encryption and are only accessible after the release time. We use industry-standard security practices to protect stored data. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Legal Requests

We will fight any legal request that would endanger the safety of uploaders. Because we do not collect identifying information, we have minimal data to provide in response to legal requests. We will notify the public of any government requests we receive through transparency reports.

Third-Party Services

We use minimal third-party services. Video storage is provided by secure cloud infrastructure. We do not use analytics services that track individual users.

Your Rights

Because we do not collect identifying information, we cannot link videos to specific individuals. If you uploaded a video and wish to request its removal, you must provide the SHA-256 hash that was displayed when you uploaded it as proof of ownership.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced on our website. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
